Envi represents the built environment and the natural environment and their impact on all living things.  When thinking of the right name for my firm, I knew that using my own name was not right.  All of our projects are created by a design team.  Whether I'm collaborating with architects, graphic designers, contractors or it is just me and you - the client, we are a design team.  All work is a result of that collaboration and the client's influence in the team.  That is why when you view Envi Studio's portfolio you don't see one person's style in the work, yet it responds to the unique challenges of the particular project.  Let's be teammates!

Jeanne Mercer-Ballard, President, is an interior designer with over twenty years of experience in a variety of project types. She has completed projects in over thirty states and three countries. Her work has been published
in several books and periodicals.

Jeanne has extensive experience in all phases of interior and lighting design. Her knowledge of furniture specifications and purchasing helps to further augment the diversity of her services. Her work is characterized by creative problem-solving while responding to the client’s desires and project guidelines.  Jeanne understands how to incorporate environmentally-sensitive attributes into the projects without sacrificing any other goals for the project.

Jeanne believes design has the power to greatly impact lives, therefore she creates quality interior environments based on research and human behavior. Design is not merely an aesthetic adventure, but must consider the client’s desires, and other project needs, such as function, longevity, maintenance, context, and the environment. She is sensitive to modest budgets and attacks those projects with creative solutions. She is currently sharing that philosophy with future designers as an Associate Professor of Interior Design at Appalachian State University.

She defines a successful project by the client’s response to the place.

“If a client loves their space, feels that the space enhances people’s experience and is aware that the solution is uniquely their own, then I have succeeded in creating a place of lasting value.”
